Deerfield River Watershed Association

The Deerfield River Watershed Association and Catamount Hill Association are sponsoring a hike along Houghton Brook looking for flowers, wetland plants, salamanders and other creepy crawly things under rocks on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Lunch will be at the Peter Shippee house site near a beaver pond. The hike includes MacLeod pond, vernal pools and the foundations of the large Holden barn. Hikers should bring water and a lunch and unscented bug repellant. Meet at the corner of Route 112 and the Charlemont Road (left going north) about one mile north of Route 2 in Shelburne Falls. Weather permitting.
