COLRAIN — After 13 years of serving on the Mohawk Trail Regional School District Committee, Joseph Kurland of Colrain will be stepping down from the board.
Monday, on his last day on the board, he will be giving the School Committee a professional development presentation on inequity in school financing and how state aid is apportioned.
“I am retiring from the Mohawk School Committee at the end of this month,” said Kurland. “I have loved being on the committee, but I feel it is time to hand over my seat to someone younger who has children in the district schools.”
“Kate Burrows has impressed me with her thoughtfulness and dedication as she served on the Mohawk BEST Committee, the Colrain PTO, and the Colrain Education Committee,” Kurland said of the town’s recently elected school board member.
“I don’t plan to go away,” said Kurland. “I’ll check in on the schools and attend meetings from time to time.”
