SHELBURNE FALLS — The Shelburne Falls Trolley Museum will again this year offer free rides for all dads, when accompanied by their child or children, on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18, between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m.
Both mom and dad will enjoy the exhibits that show the history of the local trolley operation in the early 1900s. The highlight for the whole family is when they climb aboard Trolley Car No 10, the restored 1896 trolley which operates at the museum, states a press release.
Tickets for the annual raffle are available, with chances to win gift certificates to local stores (McCusker’s Market/Green Fields Market, restaurants such as West End Pub and 90 Main), and many different trolley and train museums located in Massachusetts, Connecticut and Maine. Tickets and details are available at the museum or online at: sftm.org.
HEATH — “Feast Your Ears: Indian, Classical and Jazz all in One Night” is a concert that features: Peter Row on sitar, Rudra Vina and Ajay Sinha on tabla, with Sarah Atwood on violin and John Clark on French horn.
The concert is Saturday, June 17, at 4 p.m. at the Heath Union Church at 5 East Main St. Donations by concert goers will be accepted to support the maintenance program for the church’s historic organ and for the music program.
SHELBURNE FALLS — The Bridge of Flowers Classic Race (Aug. 12) is partnering with five local charities to fundraise and raise awareness of their causes: The Academy of Charlemont; The Art Garden; Cancer Connection; Dial/Self of Franklin County; and Friends of Children, in Hadley.
Also, the charities will receive part of the net proceeds from the event and use the race’s resources to collect pledges and develop volunteers. The race’s 10K Classic and the Steve Lewis Subaru 3K Charity Run/Walk attract at least 1,000 runners a year and almost 3,000 visitors to Shelburne Falls for the day, according to race organizers.
“The Bridge of Flowers Races has a tradition of working with several charities over the years,” said Carole Appleton, 2017 race director. “It is a win-win for them both, as the charity can do fundraising without the stress of putting an event together and the race gets additional volunteers to assist with the community event.”
Registration for the race is open until Aug. 9. Online at:
