MONTAGUE — The Gill-Montague Regional School Committee is scheduled to appoint its ninth member tonight from two individuals who submitted letters of intent to the committee.
Former School Committee members Michael Langknecht and Joyce Philips both submitted letters of intent. The board will hear from the candidates on Tuesday before a vote of current members.
The seat opened up when Marjorie Levenson resigned from the committee for personal reasons in May. Whoever is selected tonight will fill the vacancy for another year, until the next election, and then can choose to run for the year left in the term.
Langknecht lost his seat on May 15 and was replaced with newcomer Cassie Damkoehler. Phillips lost a re-election bid in 2016. Both are from Montague.
A new member has to be a resident in the district that they are filling the vacancy for.
The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in Turners Falls High School.
