Kalen Evans struck out seven batters in six innings, allowing just two hits and one run as Greenfield Post 81 thumped Longmeadow, 8-2, in an American Legion Baseball Junior Division game Monday night at Veterans Memorial Field.

Colin Cloutier was 3-for-4 with an RBI for Greenfield (3-1), while Joel Peabody had a hit and drove in a pair of runs. Max Charest was 2-for-4 at the dish with an RBI, and he struck out two in one inning of relief work to close things out in the seventh.

Post 81 scored in every inning but the fourth. The squad held a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the fifth before pushing four runs across to take a commanding 7-1 advantage.

Greenfield is back in action this evening when it travels to Agawam Post 185 at 5:45 p.m. in a game at School Street Park.

Tri-County League

Easthampton 2, Teddy Bear 1 — Connor McMahon struck out 13 in a complete-game effort, limiting Teddy Bear Pools to just three hits as visiting Easthampton Savings Bank captured a 2-1 Tri-County League adult baseball win Monday night at G.T. Valiton Field in South Deerfield.

Brad Bean doubled for Teddy Bear, which fell to 1-4 on the season. Bean led off the fourth inning with the two-bagger, moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Chris Williams, and scored on a passed ball to tie the game 1-1 after ESB scored in the top of the fourth on a fielder’s choice.

ESB (4-4) plated the eventual winning run with an RBI single in the top of the sixth.

Liam Datres de la Blotier and Seth Gewanter also singled for Teddy Bear, which received strong pitching from Sam Downes. The starting pitcher went six innings, striking out eight and walking just one before giving way to John Atkins for the final stanza.

Next up for the Poolmen is a home game against perennial power PeoplesBank on Thursday at 6.
