ATHOL — The Greater Athol Area Advocates for Families with Special Needs and The United Arc plan to host an open house on Saturday at their 361 Main St. location in Athol from noon to 4 p.m.
The open house will include a talent gallery featuring the achievements of local people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
ORANGE — St. Mary’s Women’s Club and guests plan to visit, on June 15, The Cross John Harty built on his property in Barre.
The group plans to meet at the parish center at 9:15 a.m., travel by car to Barre and spend a few hours exploring the property and learning about the history of the Cross. Plans are to stop for lunch at High Tide Seafood in Barre on the return. There is no cost for the visit, though individuals will be responsible for purchasing their own lunch.

NEW SALEM — An invasive plant workshop is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon at 24 South Main St. on June 10.
Fletcher Clark, a state Department of Conservation and Recreation service forester, plans to talk about the threat invasive plant species pose to woodlands, identification of invasive woody plant species, and available tools and resources to help manage invasive plant species on your property.
Residents will also share how they have tackled invasive plants.
This event will be canceled in the event of heavy rain or thunderstorms. The morning will be spent outside and attendees are encouraged to dress accordingly and wear comfortable shoes for walking in the woods.
