TURNERS FALLS — The Turners Falls High School mascot and districtwide budget shortfalls will both be discussed by the Gill-Montague Regional School Committee Tuesday night.

The Committee will be continuing previous conversations on the mascot, but will be doing so for the first time since Montague voted on the town’s nonbinding referendum, and since the new committee members took their seats last week.

Cassie Damkoehler and Shawn Hubert were both elected to the School Committee during last Monday’s election.

The committee plans to continue its discussion of criteria for a new mascot, according to the agenda for the meeting.

They will also discuss possible solutions for holes in the budget. Superintendent Michael Sullivan recently withdrew his suggestion to combine the fifth- and sixth-grade classes at Gill Elementary as a way to compensate for shortfalls with Medicaid reimbursements and special education placements.
