Sophia Rotkiewicz was a perfect 3-for-3 at the dish as Harper’s Store captured a 7-4 win over the Purple Panthers in a Greenfield Girls’ Softball League Nippers Division game on Tuesday night.
Annalise Newton and Adriana Winslow had two hits apiece for Harper’s.
Ivy Lopez helped pace the Panthers with a hit.
• In Ponytail Division play, Amber Bergeron and Brooke Thayer combined for 10 strikeouts in the circle to power Conte Office Interiors to a 14-7 win over Pipione’s Sport Shop on Tuesday.
Kameryn Dearborn smacked a grand slam in the win for Conte, while Cassidy Cloutier, Josefine Cloutier and Hannah Poirier all had two hits. Stella Verlander added a hit.
Margarette Howland had two hits, including a double, and struck out three in the circle for Pipione’s. Alysia Knapp added two hits, including a double, while teammates Sophia Tully and Josalyn Eastman both finished with hits.
• In other Ponytail play on Tuesday, Lilly Ross recorded 10 strikeouts to lead Descavich Plumbing to a 12-10 win over Franklin Orthopedic.
Ross also had a single at the dish, while teammate Carley Blanchard was 2-for-3 with a triple. Tea Pietras had a hit in the win.
Faith Smith made her pitching debut for Franklin Orthopedic, which was paced offensively by Maryn Hyer’s pair of hits. Brooke Smith also had a hit for Franklin.
Northfield Tri-County
It took extra innings but the Northfield-Erving Tigers picked up a hard-fought, 11-6 win over Vernon in a seven-inning Tri-County League youth softball game on Tuesday night.
Julia Kovalsick struck out 16 batters in the circle, while Olivia Hammond added three strikeouts in a solid all-around pitching outing for the Tigers. Hammond added a single, while Kovalsick registered a pair of hits and an RBI.
Northfield-Erving’s Lexi Pratt and Georgia Harris-Hendry each had hits and a pair of RBI, while Sarah LaRocque singled and Hailey Haughey smacked an RBI.

Heath Gomez’s standout performance at the plate and on the mound was enough to send Nap’s Auto Sales & Service to a 15-6 win over Smitty’s Pub in a Greenfield Minor League AAA baseball game Tuesday night.
Gomez went 3-for-4 with a home run to pace Nap’s, and also struck out eight batters in four innings of work. Teammates Joe Kirley (1-for-2, 2B) and Jayden Hunter (1-for-2) also helped the cause.
Smitty’s received a triple from Elias Urquhrt and a hit from Jackson Petrin.
• In other action, Kendra Campbell struck out six on the mound and also went 4-for-4 with a double to lead Rotary Club to a 11-5 win over Aubuchon Hardware.
Jackson Campbell had two singles for Rotary, while Shawn Turner, Daniel Pena-Chadee, Taryn McDonough and Will Glazier each had one hit.
Otis Wagerbeck led Aubuchon with two hits, and Ben Werner, Braydon Thayer, Luca Siano and Ethan Mauthe each finished with one hit.
• Finally, Braeden Tsipenyuk and Gabe Tomasi combined to strike out seven and Tognarelli Heating bested Freedom Credit Union, 8-3.
Tsipenyuk went 3-for-3 with a double, and Tomasi had two hits, including a double. Ethan Quinn had three hits and an RBI, Ben Dodge singled and drove in a run, and Aaron Morrissey and Kolin Broderick each singled.
Camden Guertin, Mike Stennes and Tyler Yetter combined to strike out eight in the loss. Yetter, Cam Burnett, Matt Stiles and Aiden Shea each singled.
Buckland-Shelburne Youth
Phillip Morin and Logan Moore combined for five hits and four runs scored as Ashfield edged Colrain, 5-4, in a majors division game of the Buckland-Shelburne Youth Baseball League Tuesday night.
Isaak Baranoski also went 1-for-3 and scored the go-ahead run for Ashfield.
Nate Wiles led Colrain at the dish, going 3-for-4 with two runs along with three solid innings of pitching. Henry Jones was a threat all night, going 1-for-3 and scoring a clutch run.
CC of G 18 Hole
Sue McDonald, Michele Hazlett and Phyllis Canon shot a 74 to win low gross during the opening-day scramble of the Tuesday Morning Ladies 18-Hole Gold Division at the Country Club of Greenfield on Tuesday.
Hole in one
Ashfield’s Patrick McGuire recorded his second career hole-in-one on Tuesday, using a 52-degree wedge.
McGuire aced the par 3, 9th hole measuring 122 yards at the Country Club of Greenfield. The feat was witnessed by Mike Johnson, Dave Donoghue and Casey Fahey.
Erving League at Northfield
After a match of cards, Matt Deane and Bill Louisignau combined for a 39 to score low-gross at Tuesday night’s Erving League held at Northfield Golf Club.
Fred Avery and Tim Herk won the low-net contest with a score of 31.
Deane was closest on hole No. 6 at 35 feet, and he was also the match medalist with a score of 39.
It is early in the season and the league is open to new members.
Matt’s Men’s League
George Handschuh’s took low-gross honors after firing a 40 at Tuesday’s Matt’s Men’s League held at Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club in Turners Falls.
Bob Wilson snagged low-net honors with a 32, while Wayne DeGrenier and Andy Wyngowski earned the most points of the night with six.
Rick Kimball was closest to the pin on No. 7 (3 feet, 8 inches), while Rob Broussard was closest on No. 9 (7-1).
Edge Hill Men’s League
Phil Sherburne’s 41 was good enough for low-gross honors in the A Division at Tuesday’s Edge Hill Golf Course men’s league.
Bob Story wound up with low-net score (33), while Matt Vandale was closest to the pin on No. 10 (16 feet). Sherburne had a plus-2 in point quota.
In B Division play, Ship Heddens snagged low gross with a 42, while Butch Whitson had low-net honors with a 33. Heddens was closest on No. 10 (3-2), and he also posted a plus-5.5 point quota.
Mother’s Day Half-Marathon
You can run for mom on Sunday during the seventh annual Western Massachusetts Mother’s Day Half-Marathon covering 13.1 miles through the region, benefiting Cancer Connection.
Along with the half marathon, there will also a nine-mile walking course. Both races begin at the Yankee Candle factory on Christian Lane. Walkers step off at 7:30 a.m., followed at 8 a.m. by runners.
Cancer Connection is a nonprofit “support center that has served as a haven for people diagnosed with cancer and their caregivers in the Pioneer Valley since 2000.”
