Bernardston selectmen approve liquor license

BERNARDSTON — The Board of Selectmen unanimously approved the Country Corner Store’s request for a package store license during a April 26 meeting.

Country Corner Store Owner Jeff Klein said he’d clear four feet of the 14-foot space that currently holds potato chips to make room for a selection of vodka, gin and other popular liquors, depending on what customers want.

“I just want to offer a little more to my town,” Klein said. “We’ll start small and see what happens.”

The selectmen said the town had seen no problems with the store while it was permitted to sell beer and wine, and agreed with the need to offer an expanded selection to townspeople.

“It’s nice to have something back in town, even at a small scale,” Selectman Stanley Garland said.

The Alcoholic Beverages Control Commission (ABCC) must approve the license change before Klein can start selling.
