ASHFIELD — There were two contested races in this year’s annual election Saturday, one for a five-year seat on the Planning Board, another for a position on the Finance Committee.
In the Finance Committee race, Carl Satterfield edged out Kyle Taylor 76-69 for a three-year seat. Elsewhere, Richard Chandler defeated Norman Russell 110-39 for the Planning Board seat.
In other, uncontested races, Stewart “Buz” Eisenberg was re-elected as moderator (144 votes); Thomas Poissant as tree warden (140 votes); Mary Fitz-Gibbon (137 votes) to the Finance Committee; and Marcine Eisenberg as library trustee, a five-year position (139 votes).
The remaining election races are as follows: Todd Olanyk was once again elected to the Selectboard (141 votes); Donna Sarro to the Board of Assessors (137 votes); Carol Lebold to the Finance Committee (130 votes); Duncan Colter onto the Board of Health (136 votes); John Labelle as constable (144 votes); John Nawrocki to the Parks Commission (144 votes); and Tom Miner Jr. to the Sewer Commission (142 votes).
Voters also decided by an 88-42 vote to purchase a new Highway Department truck. Another, 125-24 vote approved closing the landfill.
