HAWLEY — Assistant Fire Chief Robert Root, who ran unopposed for the seat held by John Sears, is the town’s newest Selectboard member.

Besides Root, the following incumbents were re-elected for three-year terms: Town Clerk Pamela Shrimpton; Board of Assessors Rick Kean, Hawlemont School Committee Sally Rich.

Selectman Hussain Hamden recieved the most write-in votes for a vacant seat on the Mohawk Trail Regional School Committee, a three-year term, that was vacated by Kirby “Lark” Thwing. Among the 42 voters (about 15 percent of registered voters) who came out for the election, Hamden received two write-in votes, while three other write-ins received one vote each.

Lark Thwing drew nine write-in votes for another one-year term as town moderator, and former town moderator Scott Purinton received eight write-in votes for that position.

Incumbent town Auditor Carla Clark received nine writer-in votes for another term.
