TURNERS FALLS — The town of Montague has executed an agreement with Greenfield Savings Bank to install an ATM inside the lobby of the Montague Public Safety Complex building. The effort was spearheaded by Police Chief Chip Dodge and the Montague Police Department.

Dodge said he started looking into it when he learned that many people meet in the parking lot of the safety complex for Craigslist and other internet purchases. This will provide residents with a safe place to withdraw money, according to Dodge.

In addition, it can serve as another ATM in that area, which is near Turners Falls High School and several retirement homes.

Dodge said he sent out inquiries to 15 local banks, and Greenfield Savings Bank indicated they we’re interested in the project. The bank will provide the ATM and cover installation costs.
