TURNERS FALLS — Turners Falls RiverCulture is hosting free music in Spinner Park today, April 28, as part of a celebration for Arbor Day. Home Body, an electric pop duo, will be playing in the park starting at 5 p.m. The concert is free, family friendly and open to the public. TURNERS FALLS — Montague Town Planner Walter Ramsey reported to the Montague Selectboard that the town had been offered $1,000 worth of bicycle racks by the Franklin Regional Council of Governments. The board voted to accept the gift at the meeting.
The racks will go in three locations, the Carnegie Library, the Montague Center Library and Unity Park. The two bicycle racks at the Montague Center Library and Unity Park will have specific designs that fit their locations.
TURNERS FALLS — From 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, the Great Falls Discovery Center will be hosting the annual statewide Park Serve Day, where volunteers come out to clean up the local state parks.
The event is statewide and the Department of Conservation and Recreation is providing water and supplies for the cleanup efforts across the state. Events across the state run from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
The event is coordinated by the governor’s office as a way to encourage volunteerism and get all state parks cleaned up ahead of the heavy-use spring and summer seasons.
TURNERS FALLS — The Montague Police Department recently hired another officer, Sgt. Joshua Hoffman, to replace a recently retired officer. Hoffman was sworn in at the Montague Police Department on April 19.
