Flying the American flag upside down is not disrespectful. It’s a time-honored signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property recognized in the Flag Code.
I am a Vietnam veteran, and I learned that when I went through Naval Officer Training School. I totally support Ed Grinnell’s right to display an upside down flag. The actions of the Trump administration are placing us all, the environment, and American values in extreme danger and warrant a signal of the most dire distress.
