COLRAIN — Two incumbents will be running as write-in candidates on the May 1 annual town election, and — for now — there is only one election contest on the ballot.
Assessor Jonathan Lagreze is running for re-election and Dwight Harrison is on the ballot for the same position.
Selectboard member Eileen Sauvageau is running for another three-year term, but her name was omitted from the ballot, as was the name of Cheli Mennella, who is running for re-election to her seat as a Library Trustee.
Town Clerk Robin Hartnett said the omissions were caused by a clerical error, and that voters will have to write in Sauvageau and Mennella’s names, if they want to re-elect them.
Others running office are: Kathryn “Kate” Barrows for a three-year seat on the Mohawk Trail Regional School District Committee, Jill Horton-Lyons, for re-election to her three-year seat as a Library Trustee; and Constable Scott Sullivan, for re-election to a three-year term.
On Monday, April 10, is the last day to register to vote in time for the annual election and Tuesday, April 11, is the last voter-registration day for anyone who wants to be eligible to vote in the annual town meeting. The town clerk’s office is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will hold evening voter registration hours Monday and Tuesday from 7 to 8 p.m.
Also, candidates for town offices are invited to attend a Candidates Night on April 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the Griswold Memorial Library, 12 Main Road.
