TURNERS FALLS — The University of Massachusetts, Amherst, along with Turners Falls RiverCulture, will be hosting a workshop “Introduction to the Public Art Process” in Turners Falls at the Great Falls Discovery Center.

The workshop will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 15. The UMass Amherst Art Extension Services will be directing the educational forum.

The workshop will train interested local artists on the public art application process. The goal of the workshop is to help get more western Massachusetts artists engaged in community art projects, as a way to make money and build profiles.

According to the press release from the Art Extension Services, the event is open to artists of all mediums who are interested in learning more about public art.

The event is part of Arts Extension Service’s Arts Entrepreneurship Initiative, which serves artists through intensive workshops, courses and publications on the business of art, according to the release.

The workshop is free of charge, but requires advanced registration. Those interested in the workshop can register by contacting the contacting UMass Art Extension Services at aes@acad.umass.edu or 413-545-2360.
