Franklin County Tech School will be hosting its annual spring play this weekend.

This year’s play, “Every U.S. Election Ever,” was chosen by director Dan Prascol when he was looking for scripts after the 2016 election.

“How do you not do an election play after this year?” he said.

It’s a new script by Ian McWethy, and while it touches on the Trump/Clinton election at the end, it focuses mostly on elections of long ago.

“Compared to other elections, this is nothing,” Prascol said.

About 18 Tech School students are involved in the production, which is running today and Saturday at 6:30 p.m. Both shows are at the Shea Theater in downtown Turners Falls.

The students and Prascol have been working on the play since the first week of January. They don’t have a traditional rehearsal space, so the students practice in a classroom, and then do staging and dress rehearsals at the Shea the week of the show.

“The kids, because they come from so far, they really work hard because they don’t have a lot of rehearsal time,” Prascol said.

Tickets are $5 for students and $7 for adults and can be purchased at the door. The performance will last about 80 minutes.
