Cut and kill as much of the bittersweet when you can before it takes over our woods. I know it is pretty, but the Oriental Bittersweet is not a native plant and is considered one of the worst invasive plants.
There are large sections where the trees along the fields, roads, riverways and highways are really infested. Trees with it will lose limbs or fall well before they should and the bittersweet will overrun any young saplings, killing them too.
Contact the local garden center for ways to kill it, but clipping it often is a start. It would be a shame to lose more of our woods to it.
