Westfield State University senior guard Jill Valley was named Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) player of the week.

Valley, from Orange, registered 24 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists during the Owls’ 90-77 win over Framingham State in their only game of the week. Valley was 6-for-14 from the field and 10-for-10 from the free-throw line.

Westfield State (9-6, 3-0 MASCAC) hosts Salem State tonight at 7:30 p.m.

Middle school boys

Frontier Middle School upped its record to 7-1 overall as it defeated Eaglebrook School, 51-28, in boys’ basketball action Tuesday in Old Deerfield.

Owen Morse led the winners with 15 points, while Ethan Machon and Owen Zinn-Keane each chipped in with 6.

Frontier is on the road Thursday at Greenfield Middle School.

Pioneer Suburban

The Pioneer grades 7 and 8 Suburban Boys’ Basketball League team went 1-1 during the MLK Day Tournament Monday at Premier Courts in Foxborough.

Pioneer used a 25-point performance from Troy Emond and 19 more from Quinn Grover to beat North Attleboro, 71-65.

Liam Bradley-Curtis and Jared Hubbard each added 9.

Pioneer lost to Natick in the other game, 81-39. Emond had 9 points and Hubbard and Josh Glazier both finished with 8 for the locals.

Gymnastics

Tumbling Tigers results

Cassie Cloutier won four events including the all-around score in the Xcel Silver Division and the Greenfield YMCA Tumbling Tigers placed first in the division during the Royal Invitational gymnastics meet over the weekend in Keene, N.H.

Cloutier competed in the 11-and-under division and won the vault (9.3), bars (9.15) and beam (8.7), and placed second on the floor (8.7) en route to an all-around score of 35.85. Aiden Wall won the floor (9.2) and was second on the bars and third on the vault en route to her second-place all-around score of 34.1. Soriya Noeun was second on the vault (8.85) and floor (8.7) and finished third all-around, Safiya Yaseen was second on the floor (8.7), Margarette Howland was third on both the vault and floor, and Haylee Tuttle was third on vault.

In the ages 12-and-over division, Phoebe Broussard won the bars (9.0) and was second on the beam and floor, and third on the vault to help her finished second all-around (34.05). Abby Shaw was second on the vault (9.0) and third on the bars, beam, floor and all-around.

The Xcel Platinum team also took first for the Tumbling Tigers with a score of 98.95. Emily Braverman won the vault (8.7), bars (8.7), floor (9.1) and all-around (34.05), while placing third on the beam. Karma Phillips won the beam, and was second on the vault, floor (8.6) and all-around (33.5), while taking third on the bars. Katie Adams was second on the bars and beam, and third on the vault, floor and all-around.

Grayson Bowse won the vault (8.9), beam (9.0), floor (9.25) and all-around (35.05) in the 12-and-under division to help the Xcel Gold team to a third-place finish. Aneesa Brewer was third on the vault and second all-around (34.20) in the division, and Josie Cloutier was third on the beam. Kiarah Pinkham won the beam (8.8) and was second on the floor (8.8) in Level 4.

Addie Broady was third on the vault, and Hannah Phillips was third on the beam for the Level 6 Tigers’ team that finished third.

Pioneer coaching openings

Pioneer Valley Regional School is seeking to fill the following coaching openings for the spring season:

Middle school and varsity softball, junior varsity and varsity baseball, and assistant girls’ track.
