MLK Day celebration in Orange

ORANGE — A Martin Luther King Jr. Day celebration is planned for the Orange Innovation Center on Monday from noon to 2 p.m.

The celebration, sponsored by the North Quabbin Trails Assocation and The Winchendon School, is expected to begin with “A Man’s Vision: MLK in His Own Words,” a five-minute upbeat presentation led by educational coordinator Clare Green.

From 12:10 p.m. to 1 p.m., Mary Canning, founder of Harvard Square-based Follow the Honey, and Toni Bee, a Cambridge Poet Populist Elect emeritus, storyteller and educator, will lead a MLK-inspired multicultural program for The Winchendon School students and all attendees. There are other scheduled speakers and presentations as well.

The celebration is free and open to the public.

Transfer station closed Tuesday

ORANGE — The recycling center/transfer station will be closed on Tuesday in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

It will be open on Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.
