Five Northfield Mount Hermon School boys’ basketball players have been nominated for the 2017 McDonald’s All American Game.

The Hoggers selected include:

• Jerome Desrosiers, a 6-foot-6 guard from St-Hyacinthe, Quebec, Canada, who has committed to Princeton University;

• Matt DeWolf, a 6-9 forward from Barrington, R.I., who will attend Brown University;

• Kellan Grady, a 6-5 guard from West Roxbury who’s headed to Davidson College;

• Tomas Murphy, a 6-8 forward from Wakefield, R.I., who’s bound for Northeastern University;

• Andrew Platek, a 6-4 guard from Guilderland, N.Y., who has chosen to attend North Carolina.

Nominees were selected by high school coaches, athletic directors, principals and members of the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Committee.

McDonald’s will name the final roster of 24 boys and 24 girls, who will be selected to play in the 2017 games during the McDonald’s All American Games Selection Show Sunday night at 10:30 at on ESPNU.

The 40th annual boys’ game will tip off on March 29 from Chicago’s United Center and will be broadcast on ESPN. The 16th annual girls’ game will precede the boys’ game and will broadcast live on ESPNU.

Middle school hoop

Ethan Machon and Owen Morse both scored 12 points to lead Frontier Middle School over Mohawk Middle School, 69-19, in boys’ basketball action Thursday at Goodnow Gymnasium in South Deerfield.

Patrick Boyden and Jake Hanieski each added 6 points and Joe Thompson chipped in 5 points for the winners, who had 14 players reach the score sheet.

K of C Hoop Shoot

The Knights of Columbus Council 133 Free-Throw Shooting Championships will take place Saturday at the Greenfield YMCA at 3 p.m.

The shoot is open to boys and girls ages 9 through 14 (as of Jan. 1) from anywhere in Franklin County.

The shoot is free and winners from each age division will advance to the District Championships on Feb. 11 also at the Greenfield YMCA.

Catamount clinic

Catamount Lacrosse is running a six-week series of lacrosse clinics for beginner/intermediate players at Indoor Action Sports in Greenfield on Monday evenings from 5 to 6 p.m.

The clinics begin on Jan. 23 and are open to boys and girls in grades 3 through 7 and over introductory-intermediate fundamentals. Sticks can be provided and no other equipment is necessary. Cost is $75 for all the clinics or $20 per session.
