ATHOL — The Athol and Orange clergy and Interfaith Neighbors Connecting will hold an event remembering the powerful life and value of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on Monday, Jan. 16 at the Athol Congregational Church, 1225 Chestnut St., near the uptown common.

“The Time is Always Right … to do what is right” is the theme for the event this year. We will learn about and remember the dedication of Dr. King to courageous, selfless service on behalf of the powerless. According to Rev. Beverly Prestwood-Taylor, “The day will include activities for the whole family. Presenters from the secular as well as religious organizations have prepared discussion topics, service opportunities and expressive music and art experiences. Participants may choose the workshops and opportunities for volunteer service that speak to them. The options include appropriate activities for school-age children as well as music and art for adults.”

The event will begin with breakfast at 9 a.m., and workshops from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. An inspiring community worship service will be held at 11:30. The event will be followed by a light lunch. Reservations and information are available by calling 978-249-6202 or atholuccoffice@gmail.com.
