Dakin Humane Society’s weekly Vaccine & Microchip Clinic, held Thursday mornings at the organization’s building at 171 Union St. in Springfield, will take place on Saturday mornings, beginning Jan. 7.

Executive Director Carmine DiCenso said the shift to Saturdays will allow more people to take advantage their services.

The Clinic offers vaccinations to prevent rabies, distemper/parvovirus, kennel cough ($12 each) and feline leukemia ($20). Microchipping is available for $20 and includes registration. Other services include heartworm tests for dogs ($25), flea and tick preventive treatments ($28 for dogs, $15 for cats), deworming (cost varies by weight for dogs, $15 for cats), feline leukemia/FIV testing for cats ($25). A veterinary examination fee applies to each animal treated at the Clinic ($10 for a pet already spayed/neutered, $25 if not spayed or neutered).

The final Thursday clinic for 2016 is this week, with doors opening at 9 a.m. Starting Jan. 7, the clinic will be every Saturday morning, beginning at 9. Due to the popularity of the Clinic, a line usually forms in advance, so participants are encouraged to arrive early. All or most of the waiting time is outdoors, and the first 40 dogs and cats in line are seen by the veterinarian staff.
