Full Day Preschool Openings: The Y’s full day preschool has a few openings in both its classrooms, 3- to 4- year-olds and 4- to 5-year-olds. The 3- to 4-year-old room has three Monday, Wednesday, and Friday openings. The 4- to 5-year-old room as three five-day openings. The school provides daily physical education and weekly swimming and gymnastics lessons. In addition, there is early and late care as well as snow day care to help working parents. Another benefit is all five-day, full-year students get a free Y family membership so parents and siblings can use the Y seven days a week for fitness and family fun. January/February Class Registration: Registration for all January/February programs is in progress. Classes begin Jan. 2 to 9. Sore Joints/Chronic Pain?: Gentle movement is essential for people trying to deal with arthritis, joint issues or chronic pain. The Y offers water therapy classes at six different times each week; three Level One slots and three Level Two slots. The water provides the opportunity for many people to move freely in a nearly weightless environment, while the water provides resistance for strength development. No swimming skills are required. After each therapy session, class members can relax in the Y’s ten-person, 102-degree Jacuzzi to soothe sore muscles and joints. Aqua Breast Cancer Survivor Class: This class will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:15 to 3 p.m. starting Jan. 3. It is a water fitness class specifically designed for breast cancer survivors to improve flexibility, strength, stability and cardio endurance. Course fees for 16 classes are $56 for Y members and $72 for program associates.

Type II Diabetes: The Y’s Diabetes Care Program is a comprehensive diet, exercise and education program for people who have been diagnosed with Type II diabetes. Through exercise and diet, many Type II diabetics can reduce the amount of medication they need to take. The Y staff will help you reach new health goals. The program consists of three small group exercise classes per week, weekly weigh-ins, initial body measurements, food journaling and monthly healthy eating educational presentations. The program meets in a private room with quality cardio and strength equipment. Program runs Tuesdays and Thursdays 3 to 4 p.m., 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 10 to 11 a.m. This eight-week program is free for Y members and $99 for nonmembers.
