To Trump supporters, I’m unconcerned that we have different politics. I don’t think less of you because you vote one way and I vote another. That is what makes America great, and yes, we are great.
I do, however, think less of you because you watched your candidate mock a disabled person in front of a crowd and still voted for him. You heard him brag about grabbing women’s genitalia, and thought nothing of it. You heard him advocate for war crimes and you still wanted him to be the leader of our country. You listened as he ratcheted up the rhetoric of racism and bigotry and still backed him.
We watched your candidate equate a woman’s worth to her appearance. How are you feeling now that he isn’t “locking her up” or “building the wall” and instead of “draining the swamp” has filled it with GS executives, lobbyists and Wall Street insiders? You elected a businessman, who has 15-plus failed businesses, owes hundreds of millions to a German bank and the Chinese government and who has filed bankruptcy four times. It’s not your politics I find objectionable, it is your willingness to support racism, cruelty and a morally bankrupt person. That is what will stay with me long after Trump has come and gone and done his damage with his band of inexperienced destroyers.
I draw strength in knowing more Americans believe in Hillary Clinton than they do Trump. We spent eight years listening to conservatives saying Obama wasn’t qualified, Trump stoking the lie that Obama wasn’t American, McConnell’s goal of making sure Obama was a one-term POTUS, GOP obstruction and now you want us to “cooperate?” As a patriot, I plan on pushing back on Trump and his supporters for as long as it takes.
