Tyler library fete set for Tuesday

CHARLEMONT — In celebration of Library Director Andrea Bernard’s recent national librarian award, the trustees of the Tyler Memorial Library are hosting a reception at the library on Tuesday from 3 to 5 p.m.

Bernard won an “I Love My Librarian” Award, which is given out annually to 10 librarians who are recognized “for their exceptional contributions to transforming lives and communities through education and lifelong learning,” according to the American Library Association. The award came with a $5,000 cash prize at a ceremony held in New York City. Besides Bernard, Peter and Susan Purdy, Will Cosby and Lisa Johnson of Hawley also attended the event.

Tuesday’s reception is to give other library patrons a chance to congratulate Bernard and celebrate with her. There will be refreshments, and those who want to may also bring a dish to share.
