Writers’ Lunch: Monday through Thursday, from noon to 2 p.m., bring your laptop or notebook and lunch to the LeVanway Meeting Room for self-directed writing time.
Open for Business: Mondays and Fridays from 2 to 5 p.m., telecommuters and local business people looking for reliable Wi-Fi and a quiet workspace are invited to use the library’s LeVanway Meeting Room.
Reading Relay Read Aloud Storytime: Each Monday from 4 to 5 p.m., Reading Relay Read Aloud Storytime for all ages will feature a new theme with puppets, felt board stories and short plays during an hour when everyone reads. Come and listen or take part in the reading. Suggested for readers elementary age and above and, of course, younger listeners.
Mother Goose on the Loose: Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 to 11 a.m., join Kay Lyons at a lap-sit story hour for children age 3 and under, with a grown-up. Kay reads books, leads the group in hand rhymes, and uses puppets to teach animal sounds and other concepts new to the very young. Each session is 45 minutes, with half an hour of structured activity and about fifteen minutes of visiting time.
Wednesday Wizards: Kids become wizards of science and learn various concepts while doing fun experiments. Each session, a guest presenter will introduce a science concept with a book and activity sure to inspire creativity. Session meets at 4 p.m. in the LeVanway Meeting Room.
Chess Club: Every Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:45 p.m., play chess at the GPL. The last Wednesday of each month will feature a speed chess tournament. Contact: calderrossi@gmail.com.
Homebound Delivery Program: This service of the Library and the Friends of the Library offers delivery of materials to Greenfield residents who are unable to travel to the library for any reason. This includes people with disabilities or health problems, people who are unable to get out due to inclement weather, and those who lack transportation. The materials will be brought to your home by a library volunteer. The volunteers are men and women who have taken part in a brief training program and are willing to meet with you to discuss your unique needs. He or she will consult with you to learn the types of library resources you desire and then pick up specific materials.
