SHELBURNE FALLS — West County Arts and Culture — a new spin-off of the Greater Shelburne Falls Area Business Association — is accepting film submissions from female filmmakers who want their short works to be screened in a “Fabulous February Fringe” film festival planned for Shelburne Falls on Feb. 11.
Dec. 20 is the deadline for submissions, and business association Director Carmella Lanza-Weil says she’s already received 500 submissions from all over the world. The films must be written by or directed by women, be no longer than 20 minutes, and they must touch on the theme of love.
West County Arts and Culture is a new subsidiary of the Greater Shelburne Falls Area Business Association, which is formed to present visual and performing art happenings in the 10 hilltowns served by the business association.
This new group is working with Women in Film and Video: New England and Hermes Strategic Communications. The time and place where the films will be shown hasn’t yet been announced, but Lanza-Weil said they will be screened in the village during the afternoon of Feb. 11. The films can be submitted online for free through Film Freeway:
