Orange, Dec. 1

2:05 a.m. — Hazard reported on West Orange Road from where Control got a report of a tree on the wires and debris is in the roadway; the road was shut down and National Grid was contacted, and they removed the hazard; they advised they will have a tree company come and finish cutting the rest at a later date.

Greenfield, Dec. 2

6:15 a.m. — Accident reported past Cherry Rum Plaza on Bernardston road, two vehicles involved, but no injuries reported. Services rendered.

6:35 a.m. — Accident reported at the Interstate 91, Exit 26, with injuries reported, officer and Fire Department responded; services rendered, but no detail as to injuries.

11:04 a.m. — A minor accident reported on Union Street, when a blue 1998 International 4900 oil delivery truck struck a parked car, a white 2001 Audi A6. There were no injuries.

4:23 p.m. — A caller advised there was a man in a brown jacket and tan pants urinating on the wall of the train station at the corner of Bank Row and Olive Street. The caller believed he was intoxicated. Police arrested 64-year-old Dennis Duffin, homeless, on charges of disorderly conduct and having an open container/drinking in public. There were also two warrants out for his arrest.

Greenfield, Dec. 3

12:07 a.m. — A traffic stop near Ninety Nine Restaurant, located at 17 Colrain Road, resulted in the arrest of Andre Barany-Ruiz, 24, of Greenfield. Barany-Ruiz, who was driving a white 2001 Jeep Laredo, was arrested on charges of a marked lanes violation, lights violation, failure to stop for police, operating recklessly as to endanger, operating under the influence of liquor, operating under the influence of liquor with a blood-alcohol content of .08 or greater and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

8:30 a.m. — A caller at Woods & Livingston Financial Group, located at 277 Main St., found a red Santa Anita Park baseball hat, eyeglasses and a gray LG cell phone in the hallway between floors.

Orange, Dec. 3

5:30 a.m. — Caller from East River Street reporting they have newspaper stolen every Saturday morning; this is under investigation.

12:22 p.m. — Larceny reported by a walk-in from Wheeler Avenue, who says her Cumberland Farms debit card has been used in multiple stores; she is still trying to get paper work to show which transactions were done by the known person: the reporting person was given statement forms and will complete them along with the store records, and return to the investigating officer.

3:39 p.m. — Reporting person from East River Street, states he is at the sliding door to his brother’s apartment; he can see his brother passed out on the floor, and the 1-year-old child is on top of the changing table, screaming and crying; the reporting person was able to gain entry through a window prior to officer’ arrival, the male was awake on arrival, but a 51A process report was filed.

Greenfield, Dec. 4

12:53 p.m. — Suspicious activity reported on Kimball Drive, (former trailer park) where the caller said there are people working on a car, and she was concerned due to garbage and oil containers strewn about; officer spoke to people who were working on the front end of the vehicle; also located several containers and trash, which appears to have been here for several days; the containers appear to contain oil; DPW to be advised.

3:26 p.m. — Walk-in from Maple Street reports his mail is being stolen, officer to investigate.

7:08 p.m. — Accident reported at Barr Avenue and Silver Street where it was found to be two vehicles involved; a Honda Civic rear ended a Honda CRV at the intersection, but damage appeared to be minor; information exchanged.

8:12 p.m. — Report of malicious destruction of property, at Miles Street hotel apartments, where the caller requested an officer to speak with her and look at her mailbox; officer found no damage, but a piece of tape with name written on it was removed, and the officer spoke to both people involved and they were advised of options.

8:32 p.m. — Report from Heather Court where the caller states a white male wearing a tan shirt and jeans, entered the caller’s apartment home, and made it into the kitchen, yelling for a brother, “Jay,” the caller was able to push him out, but unknown direction of travel; there was a language barrier, the caller is also visually impaired.

8:43 p.m. — Reporting person states her boyfriend punched her in the face last night, and doesn’t want him to come home tonight; officers en route to the Victoria Bar on Chapman Street, and spoke to both people involved, and both were intoxicated, and separated for the night.

9:04 p.m. — Disturbance reported on Miles Street at the hotel apartments there; the caller states she is in a neighbor’s apartment, and the involved male from earlier was yelling at her, so her neighbor pulled her into her own apartment; officers dispatched and found this is a borderline harassment issue, but more of an alcohol issue with the known male; the ongoing issue was discussed between officer and those involves.

8:04 a.m. — Breaking and entering, reported at Suburban Propane facility on Chapman Street where an officer found an entry was made through a window, and a safe was removed; officer investigating.

8:44 a.m. — Accident reported at Walgreen’s on Pierce Street, but no injuries reported; determined as a very minor accident, the operator exchanged information prior to officer’s arrival.

9:17 a.m. — Accident reported at CVS on Federal Street, but said it happened yesterday, and a witness reported another vehicle struck her vehicle, and they were able to track them down and exchange information; officer called and was advised she received the information that she needed already.

9:55 a.m. — Fire alarm activated at Greenfield Community College; Fire Department notified.

9:57 p.m. — Accident reported on River Street where the caller says there was an accident, with no injuries at this location, it was a single-vehicle accident that slid off the roadway, but didn’t strike anything else; officer was reported.

10:53 a.m. — Request that police check the welfare of a person on Norwood Street; the subject was located and was intoxicated on board; the subject was transported home to where family members were able to care for him.

Montague, Dec. 4

2:10 p.m. — Caller from the area of the fish ladder reports a stripped deer carcass by the dirt parking lot next to the dam on the fish ladder side; caller states it is a doe; officers checking, and located the animal where it is, in the dirt parking lot area across from the basketball courts; DPW was contacted and message left for them to pick it up in the morning.

Orange, Dec. 4

3:09 p.m. — Caller reports a young child, about 8 years old walking without any shoes; last seen walking west on West Main street; area streets were checked, but no contact found.

4:39 p.m. — Control received a report that a son was hitting his mother; the parent was spoken to by officers and stated that wasn’t the case, and it was a verbal argument; all were spoken with and advised to call it a night.

7:34 p.m. — General disturbance on Mechanic Street. Control reports the caller’s son and husband are outside the residence, and report the son’s girlfriend is banging her head against the wall; on officer’s arrival the female denies that report, and said she only made a statement that she should, as there had been an argument with the boyfriend; options were offered for counseling, and the involved stated she was all set; after speaking with both people the female left for the night to stay with a parent.
