GREENFIELD — Temple Israel (27 Pierce St.) is sponsoring a three-day conference set for Dec. 9 to 11 on “Jewish Views of the Afterlife,” featuring Rabbi Simcha Paull Raphael, PhD, scholar in residence. Simcha Raphael, PhD is the director of DA’AT Institute for Death Awareness, Advocacy and Training. He is a nationally regarded lecturer of Jewish death practices and teachings and is the author of “Jewish Views of the Afterlife.” All are welcome.

Friday, Dec. 9 at 7 p.m.: Guidelines from the Torah for Conversations that Matter.” Rabbi Raphael will share what we can learn from the Torah about meaningful end-of-life conversations with each other and loved ones.

Saturday, Dec. 10 at 9:30 a.m.: “Exploring Jewish Views of the Afterlife.” Sermon by Rabi Raphael. Kiddush/light refreshments will follow each service.

Saturday, Dec. 10 at 7:30 p.m.: “Tales of Ancestral Guides, Wandering Spirits and Reincarnation.” Story Swap to follow. Suggested donation: $10

Sunday, Dec. 11, 1 to 3 p.m.: “End of Life Practices and Afterlife Beliefs” A Panel, co-sponsored by the Interfaith Council of Franklin County. Temple Israel will be joined by presenters from area churches and other faiths to share in this panel discussion.
