SHELBURNE FALLS — Pothole Pictures hosts a special event today with the return of Vermont director Jay Craven who will present his new film, “Peter and John.”
According to Fred DeVecca of Pothole Pictures, the film is a Merchant/Ivory-like costume drama set in 1872 Nantucket. It is based on a Guy de Maupassant novel about two brothers whose relationship frays when one receives an unexpected inheritance and both become attracted to the same woman.
Craven, who has made such films as “Where the Rivers Flow North,” “A Stranger in the Kingdom,” and “Northern Borders,” will be in Shelburne Falls to present his newest film, to answer questions and discuss his movie.
“It stars Jacqueline Bisset and Christian Coulson and features wonderful cinematography and production design which conveys the moody and stunning natural beauty of the island and the deep human emotion of the story,” DeVecca said.
Showtime is 7:30 but there will be live music on stage at 7 p.m. Admission is $4 for children, $6 for adults, or one pre-purchased advance season ticket. Pothole Pictures is located in Memorial Hall at 51 Bridge St. in Shelburne Falls. The all-volunteer run, non-profit theater is fully accessible. For information, call 413-512-0850.
