DEERFIELD — After a comprehensive review process that took a few weeks, the Selectboard has offered the town administrator job to businessman Ira Brezinsky, who has also served in South Hadley’s town government for decades.
Wendy Foxmyn, who’s currently filling the administrative position temporarily, said the three-member Selectboard offered the job to Brezinsky subject to contract negotiations, after “much discussion” during a meeting Wednesday morning.
She noted that Brezinsky, a South Hadley resident, was selected out of two finalists, the other being Natasha Nau, former town administrator of Columbia, Conn. The selection process followed the departure of former Interim Town Administrator Doug Finn, and included a public interview last week.
During those interviews, the Selectboard posed a series questions to three candidates: Brezinsky, Nau, and former Deerfield Interim Town Administrator Kayce Warren, who has since withdrawn her application. Initially, the public interview was to have four candidates; however, at the last minute, David DeManche, former town administrator in Carlisle, Uxbridge, and Millbury, withdrew.
Brezinsky has “over 30 years of experience as a small business owner and entrepreneur, 28 years as a Town Meeting member, 10 years as a School Committee member, six years as an Appropriations Committee member, and four years as a Selectboard member.”
