As I understand it, the Electoral College will “cast” their votes in December for the president to be. One reason for the Electoral College was to have in place a safety net, as I understand it, in case our ancestors needed another path to secure a president. OK, I did start to look this up online but thought it would be more interesting to write a letter as it does seem that the Supreme Court and the federal government have put in some restrictions over the years on whom the college can vote for.

As I understand it, though, some can still cast their vote as they see fit and there are a few votes given to D.C.

So we have a candidate who has clearly won the popular vote. For the sake of curiosity — COULD that person be then voted in by the Electoral College? In a year where it was made clear by many that one candidate was not deemed psychologically stable to hold this office and even called the election rigged, it would seem to me that there are a couple of reasons where perhaps the Electoral College could actually play out their purpose. The president-elect has not whispered a word about this election being rigged so clearly he and the Republican Party have accepted this as a legitimate election.

That said, we have the other candidate with the popular vote who, though many question, clearly has the experience needed to hold this office.

I would like to know is this a scenario where the Electoral College could actually re-visit the results of each state and perhaps use their power to change the outcome of the election? As I understand it, no rules would be broken, you have a candidate with the popular vote and a president-elect clearly that has some issues. While I do understand that many feel that the Democratic candidate has issues, there is no doubt that the president-elect has many if not more.

I would love to hear from someone in the know if this could work. COULD the Electoral College, for the good of the country, reverse this? And if not, why, when this is precisely one of the reasons they exist.
