SHELBURNE FALLS — Interested in the geologic history of The Glacial Potholes? Learn more at a free, public presentation by local geologist Richard Little on Wednesday.
Little, professor emeritus at Greenfield Community College, will speak on “Into the Abyss of Geological Time,” hidden stories in the landscapes of Shelburne Falls and its environs, at 7:30 p.m. in the Shelburne-Buckland Community Center, 53 Main St.
“The Potholes’ rocky outcrops expose some of the most beautiful rocks in the world and preserve quite a geologic story,” Little says.
His talk will go into geologic time to explain why our region looks as it does and reveal a few secrets about landscapes we see every day.
The presentation is co-sponsored in part by the Shelburne Cultural Council, with funds allocated by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. Also funding and support for the talk comes from the Shelburne Falls Area Women’s Club.
The presentation immediately follows the regular business meeting of the club, which begins at 7 p.m., in the same location. Those attending are also invited to a social time with refreshments beginning at 6:30.
