MONTAGUE  — Local and state police investigated a stabbing in Montague Monday night.

Trooper Tom Ryan of the state police press office said the agency received a request for support from the Montague Police Department shortly after 8 p.m.

“We provided them with troopers assigned to the District Attorney’s Office, the Shelburne barracks and our crime scene services for a stabbing investigation,” Ryan said.

Ryan said he did not have any further information about the incident, and Northwestern District Attorney’s spokeswoman Mary Carey said she does not yet have a case report on the incident.

A dispatcher for the Montague Police Department said department leadership is expected to make an announcement regarding the incident this afternoon.
