CONWAY — The town held its yearly all-committee meeting in the Town Hall Tuesday, giving officials a chance to connect with other committees and hear updates on what’s happening around town.
“The purpose of this meeting is basically to share information and to see if there are any collaborative efforts between committees,” said Select Board Chairman John P. O’Rourke.
A deep sense of community reigned over the group of board and committee members. One after another, each shared the latest about what’s going on in their sector of the town’s government.
“This is cross-talk, there’s synergy going on,” Town Administrator Tom Hutcheson commented about the meeting.
Of note, many committee representatives said the town desperately needs more volunteers. Of the 250 governmental positions in town, Hutcheson said they’re filled by 150 people.
In light of those numbers, Hutcheson highlighted the dedication of current town officials, many of whom serve on more than one committee. Hutcheson said, “It’s tremendous that we have that many people involved.”
Among the many updates that were shared at the meeting, a few different committees expressed that the town requires more land for various projects, praised solar efforts around town, and highlighted a few different projects including the Festival of the Hills’ success and next year’s 250th Anniversary Celebration.
