Pumpkin Decorating: at the 7th annual Franklin County Pumpkinfest, Saturday, 2 to 9 p.m. MPRD is sponsoring the pumpkin decorating station at this year’s Franklin County Pumpkinfest. Bring your pumpkin by, decorate it, then have it registered to set a new record. Located at the Gill-Montague Bridge end of the festival.
Youth Basketball Program: Registration for Montague residents has begun for all levels of the Youth Basketball Program which includes; Start Smart Basketball for children in Grades K to 2. Program runs from early January to late February 2017. (Evening To Be Determined) 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Enrollment Max.18. Montague Residents $30. Due to the low enrollment capacity of this program, nonresidents will automatically be placed on the waiting list until close to the start of the program.
Junior and Senior Travel Team Basketball for children in Grades 3 to 6. Separate Boys and Girls teams are typically created. Combining levels and creating CO-ED teams may be necessary due to enrollment. Fees for both levels: Montague Residents $70. Enrollment Per Team, Minimum: 8, Maximum: 10
Annual Sawmill River 10K Run: Registration begins Monday for this New Year’s tradition. This year’s race will be Saturday, Dec. 31 in Montague Center Village; 10 a.m. start. Register on-line at www.runreg.com or www.montague.net; USA Track & Field sanctioned; Entry Fees $25. (Paid before Dec. 30; noon) $30 (Paid thereafter); Divisions: Youth: 18 years and Under, Open: 19 to 39 yrs.; Master: 40 to 49 years; Senior: 50 to 59 yrs.; Senior-plus: 60 years and up. Proceeds benefit the department’s Sponsor-A-Child Scholarship Program.
