Hawley pays off flood debt

HAWLEY — Voters unanimously approved two articles that enabled the town to pay off a $450,000 storm damage loan for damage repairs caused by Tropical Storm Irene five years ago. To pay off the loan, the town used a $345,165 reimbursement from the Federal and Massachusetts Emergency Management Agencies, along with $104,835 from the town’s General Stabilization Fund.

Town voters also voted not to rescind an earlier town meeting vote in favor of the latest Stretch Energy Code, going into effect in January.

Other articles seek money transfers.
