SHELBURNE FALLS — In this election year, when many talk about what skills people need to vote effectively and live in our society, the Shelburne Falls Area Women’s Club plays host to a program tonight on The Literacy Project.
The Literacy Project is a program that meets the needs of area adults for free classes in reading, writing, math, computer skills, high school equivalency and college readiness. Literacy Project Director Judith Roberts says many adults who know how to read may still lack skills to apply for a job, help children with homework or understand issues in an election.
Roberts and Beth Reil will share stories about the program, read student work and show a brief video.
The meeting will be held at the Shelburne-Buckland Community Center, beginning with social time for members and guests at 6:30 p.m. The club business meeting will begin at 7, followed by the public program at 7:30.
