Y Nights for 5th, 6th and 7th graders: The Y is bringing back a very popular program from several years ago, Y Nights.  On Saturday, Oct. 22, from 6 to 9 p.m., area 5th, 6th and 7th graders can play gym games and basketball, use the game room, listen/dance to music and enjoy pizza (50 cents per slice). Only $5 per person. Participants must have a signed emergency form. Drop-off and pick-up are at the rear entrance to the YMCA.  If 50 or more students attend, monthly Y Nights will be scheduled. All phone/electronics must be checked in when entering. Call Dave at 413-773-3646, ext. 436, for more information.

Doonya Bollywood Exercise Classes: Dynamic choreography with the hottest music from around the world.  A cardio workout that cycles between higher and lower intensity dance sequences to get you moving, sweating, and motivated all at the same time.  Draws from the music and dance of Bollywood, the field industry of India.  Tuesdays at 7:35 p.m. and Saturdays at 11:05 a.m.  Free for Y members and $10 for all others. Non-members please bring a photo ID your first class.  For a complete chart of classes see “Schedules” at ymcaingreenfield.org.

Barre Class: This class will mix elements of Pilates, dance, yoga and functional training. Each workout will use the ballet barre and exercise equipment like small hand weights to sculpt, slim and stretch the body.  Included with a Y membership; $10 per class for all others.  Classes held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:35 p.m.

Two Ballroom Dancing Options: On the first Wednesday of the month from noon to 1 p.m.  a ballroom dance instructor will be playing popular current and oldies music; no partner is needed and some instruction will take place.  Also  the Y is offering “Learn to Dance” nights every Wednesday from 7:30 to 9 p.m. People can attend with a partner or by themselves.  Free for Y members and $5 per class for others.

Child Watch: The Y provides low-cost childcare for children ages eight weeks to six years old while their parent(s) are exercising at the Y.  Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., Monday through Friday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. and Saturday from 7:45 to 9:45 a.m.  There is a 90 minute maximum per visit.

Free Senior Health Fair: Oct. 26. Largest senior health fair in Franklin County. 9 to 11:30 a.m. 23 vendors who provide programs and services for seniors will be in the Y’s gym. The Y staff will conduct fitness assessments for those ages 60 and over and will discuss with each person how to improve in each of the six fitness areas. At 11:45 a.m. a “Just Roots” soup lunch will be available, and guest presenter Dr. Gump will be speaking on pain management.  The Health Fair is co-sponsored by Baystate Franklin Medical Center and the YMCA and is free and open to the public.

Free Senior Week: October 24 to 29, everyone ages 55 and over can try the Y for free. People can go lap swimming 35 hours per week, use the 10-person Jacuzzi, take Water Fitness or Group Exercise classes, use the weight room and cardio room equipment, play Pickleball and participate in the noon to 3 p.m. daily social activities.
