ASHFIELD — Bridget Rodrigue of Hatfield has been hired to be Ashfield’s new town clerk, and she’ll begin her new job on Tuesday.

Rodrigue is currently mayoral assistant for the mayor of Northampton and she also serves as the administrative assistant/licensing coordinator for Hadley. From 2010 to 2014, Rodrigue was the administrative assistant to the Concord town clerk and is familiar with election procedures, preparation of birth, death and marriage certificates, issuing dog licenses and other town clerk responsibilities.

“I’ve heard many good things about Ashfield,” said Rodrigue. “This is such an exciting time to start, with the election a month away. I’m very comfortable with social networking, and I’m planning to have election results up (on the town website) as soon as they come in.”

Rodrigue was hired for a 30-hour work week and plans to hold office hours Monday through Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the Town Hall.

Before taking municipal jobs, Rodrigue was a teacher in Brookfield. Before that, she was an administrative specialist from 1999-2001 in the Army Reserve.

In her letter of application for the Ashfield job, Rodrigue said she has an extensive understanding of both large and small-town municipal operations, including the updating of town hall, school and civic websites, data entry, license preparation and working elections.

Former Town Clerk Ann Dunne recently left her position to take another job with the Franklin Regional Council of Governments.
