CONWAY — The town is looking for public input on this year’s Community Development Strategy draft.
The document can be found on the town’s website. An informational meeting and opportunity for public comment will be held at the Town Hall today at 7 p.m. to talk about revisions to the document.
“It’s a bunch of little stuff,” said Town Administrator Tom Hutcheson Monday about changes to the strategy, adding that “we’re looking for projects that we can put on the list that potentially could be funded.”
Changes to the document include the addition of a few new programs such as Sustainable Franklin County, a long-term “regional plan for sustainable development” — which was completed in 2013 and recommends “policies and actions that the towns may take to make the region more sustainable” over the next 20 years.
This year’s strategy revision also contains updates to the regional transportation plan and the addition of the Mass. Green Communities Program, and the community-shared solar initiative 2016 Solarize Mass SCC.
According to Solarize Mass. Shelburne-Colrain-Conway’s website, “these three towns are combining efforts to work with solar installers that could result in discounts of as much as 20-percent below the statewide average on solar photovoltaic systems for any home owner or business in the three towns.”
The deadline to sign up for the initiative was Sept. 30.
As to how the town will address its community needs, this year’s strategy draft includes the federally funded Community Development Block Grant. It also provides an updated priority list which reflects anticipated and on-going projects, including Town Hall refurbishment, South River flood mitigation and affordable housing.
