Walk for Wellness Team Program: This six-week team program is designed primarily for low to mid level walkers/exercisers and runs today through Nov. 14. Teams of five will measure their “steps” each week using a pedometer, Fitbit, etc. and then record them on walkfranklincounty.org.

Find four friends, create a team name, register on the Walk Franklin County website and pay the $15 per person fee at the Y or by calling 773-3646, ext. 0. Free Clothing Store: On Wednesday and Thursday, the Y is offering its eighth annual Free Clothing Store. The store will be open from 1 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, and Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Weight Loss Team Challenge: The Y’s first weight loss team challenge of this program year, “Dashing All The Weigh,” begins today. This nine-week program is for those serious about losing weight. The program includes fitness intakes before the program starts, nine weeks of coaching by an exercise trainer, weekly weigh-ins, food journaling and required strength and cardio workouts each week. Doonya Bollywood Exercise Classes: The YMCA now offers the latest group exercise class Doonya Bollywood. This class combines dynamic choreography with the hottest music from around the world, drawing from the music and dance of Bollywood. The classes meet on Tuesdays at 7:35 p.m. and Saturdays at 11:05 a.m. Classes are free for Y members and $10 per class for all others. Non-members please bring a photo ID to your first class. Two Ballroom Dancing Options: On the first Wednesday of the month from noon to 1 p.m., beginning Oct. 5. No partner is needed and some instruction will take place. Also starting Oct. 5, the Y is offering “Learn to Dance” Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9 p.m. People can attend with a partner or by themselves. Both of these dance options are free for Y members and $5 per class for all others.

Senior Health Fair Oct. 26: The largest senior health fair in Franklin County. From 9 to 11:30 a.m. Vendors who provide programs and services for seniors will be in the Y’s gym. The Y staff will conduct fitness assessments for those ages 60 and over and will discuss with each person how to improve in each of the six fitness areas. At 11:45 a Just Roots soup lunch will be available and guest presenter Dr. Gump will be speaking on “Pain Management.”
