GREENFIELD — Greenspace CoWork, the town’s first coworking space set to open in The Arts Block building by the end of the year, will hold a community symposium Saturday to discuss the new space, answer questions and hold a brainstorming session.

Co-working spaces are non-traditional office setups that give individuals a place to work independently while also supporting collaboration between members. Greenspace will provide basics like internet, utilities and coffee, as well as conference rooms, optional private offices and more. After receiving an overwhelmingly positive response to the idea with numerous requests for information and membership details, co-founders Jeff Sauser and Jeremy Goldsher decided to host the symposium, scheduled for 4 p.m. at The Arts Block.

“In our mission to service our community with flexibility and transparency, we have decided to continue providing opportunities for the public to peek behind the doors of our development process,” they said in a press statement.

The space was originally going to be called Greenspace CoLab, but Goldsher said the name was recently changed to Greenspace CoWork in an effort to better inform the community of the space’s purpose and to remain a unique entity in the area.

The event will include an opportunity for attendees to ask questions about the process, the product and how to become one of the first “Pioneer Members” at initial discounted rates. Sauser and Goldsher said in the release that the most exciting part of the process is getting to observe the natural evolution of the space itself in response to the community’s input.

“We want to create the best skeleton possible for our members to excel in, but the muscle, tissue and heart of this endeavor belong to you — the personal touches, the innovations, requests for new space configurations, club formations, etc.,” they said. “We will build the ship, and you are its captain.”

Topics of discussion during the symposium may include blueprints of the space, keeping Greenspace green, membership levels and perks, hours of operation, lectureship series, workshops, collaboration with other coworking spaces and more.
