After reading the paper on Monday and Tuesday, I can’t say I was surprised to not see an article about the Wormtown Music Festival, which happened from Sept. 16 to 18. Over 4,000 people from all over came through our town to enjoy a beautiful weekend in the valley, listening to live music and having a good time.

This event has been coming to Greenfield for 12 years and yet barely gets recognized as the newsworthy event it is. It’s a shame, because Greenfield should be known as the Summer Music Festival Capital of New England, with three kick-ass music festivals happening here over a four-month period.

That’s not only incredible, but unique, for a town to host a music festival every two months.

So, I not only challenge the Recorder to start covering this festival on a more regular basis but the Chamber of Commerce and the Greenfield Business Association to get behind ALL of our music festivals (not just one) and promote our area as a music tourism destination.

Some say Greenfield needs an identity and an industry — well, we have one. The city just needs to embrace it.
