Audrey Bresciano finished with two goals and added an assist as Greenfield High School remained perfect on the season with a 5-1 win over Smith Academy in a North Division field hockey match Friday afternoon in Greenfield.

“We had a great offensive presence throughout the game today,” said Greenfield head coach Erin Thayer. “Our midfielders moved the ball well and were able to push the ball up to our forwards who created a lot of pressure inside the circle.”

Olivia Joy opened up the scoring 7:36 into the game on a pass from Bresciano to give the Green Wave (4-0-0) the 1-0 lead. Greenfield then doubled its lead with 44 seconds remaining in the half when Bresciano added her first goal on a pass from Raegan Hickey, putting Greenfield up 2-0 at the half.

Greenfield picked up right where it left off in the sercond half. Joy added her second score, followed by a goal from Hickey and Bresciano potted her second goal late in the half to complete the scoring.

Samantha Smith recorded 14 saves for the Green Wave.

Olivia Cavanaugh scored the lone goal for Smith Academy in support of goalie Teagan Cavanaugh, who stopped 12 shots.

Frontier 3, Mohawk 0 — The Frontier Regional School defense held Mohawk Trail Regional High School to just one shot on Friday afternoon and the Red Hawks earned a 3-0 North Division victory Friday afternoon in South Deerfield.

The Red Hawks improved to 4-1-0 on the season, getting goals from McKenzie Patterson, Ashley Borkowski and Hannah Roche. Mohawk fell to 1-3-0 on the season.

Patterson opened up the scoring 4:09 into the game when she knocked home a rebound off the pads of Mohawk goalie Eloise Perrea. The score stayed that way until the second half when Ashley Borkowski knocked in a rebound 7 minutes in. Hannah Roche closed the scoring at the midpoint of the second half when she finished off a feed from Borkowski.

Skyla Burniske needed to make just one save to earn the shutout. Perrea stopped 11 shots in the loss.

Pioneer 12, Central 0 — Alyssa Genovese and Jessica Scoville each registered hat tricks on Friday and Pioneer Valley Regional School continued its unbeaten start to the season with a 12-0 victory over Central High School in West Division field hockey play in Springfield.

Pioneer is now 2-0-1 after three games and has outscored opponents, 18-3.

Scoville also had two assists for ther Panthers (2-0-1) , Kelsey Walker and McKayla Glazier had two goals and one assist apiece, and Olivia Rowe had one goal and two assists. Elizabeth Sweeney added one goal and one assist.

Steph Scoville made one save to earn the shutout.

Girls’ volleyball

Notre Dame 3, Frontier 0 — Ella Deane recorded 15 assists and 8 digs but Frontier ran into Division II power Notre Dame Academy of Hingham and lost, 25-13, 25-14, 25-20, in an independent volleyball match Friday night in Hingham.

Lauren Davenport adding 9 kills and 6 digs for Frontier (3-2), while Ava Harper notched 3 kills and Bri Thurber added 2 service aces.

Lenox 3, Turners 0 — Sierra Dillensneider had 2 aces and 4 assists for Turners Falls High School but it was no where near enough as the Indians fell to Lenox Memorial High School, 25-14, 25-15 25-14, in an independent girls’ volleyball match Friday in Lenox.

Tess Hunter added 3 kills for the Indians, while Abby Loynd recorded 2 aces and 2 kills. Melissa Hersey had 3 aces and 2 kills.

South Hadley 3, Greenfield 0 — Nicole Niemiec belted 7 kills and registered 2 aces to led South Hadley to a 25-21, 25-19, 25-14 win over Greenfield High School in an independent volleyball game Friday night in South Hadley.

Molley Duclos led the way for the Green Wave with 7 kills. Jennifer Ortega finished with 6 aces and Casey Noyes added 7 digs.

Belchertown 3, Pioneer 1 — Belchertown High School rallied to win the fourth set as the Orioles posted a 25-10, 25-19, 22-25, 25-22 independent volleyball win over Pioneer Valley Regional School Friday in Northfield.

Maddy Tyson led the Panthers with 6 blocks, 4 aces and 8 kills, while Lizzie Fuller notched 18 kills and 5 digs, and Caroline Merkle finished with 19 assists and 8 digs.

Athol 3, Easthampton 0 — Hope Parker registered 11 kills, 8 aces and 3 digs as Athol High School rolled over Easthampton High School 25-13, 25-13, 25-23 in independent volleyball play Friday in Athol.

Hannah Arsenault collected 5 aces, 2 kills and 1 block, Julia Ramos added 12 assists, 3 digs and 2 aces, and Abby Leadbetter had 4 aces and 3 kills for the Red Raiders.

Lisa Sikop notched 8 kills for Easthampton while teammate Sammy Sypek finished with 15 digs.

Chicopee 3, Mohawk 0 — Ashley Reynolds dished out 8 assists for Mohawk but it wasn’t enough as the Warriors fell to Chicopee High School, 25-20, 25-5, 25-11, in an independent volleyball match Friday in Chicopee.

Hayley Lowell added 5 digs and 4 aces, and Lexi Mazza added 3 kills, 3 blocks and 2 digs for the Warriors.

Ware 3, FC Tech 0 — Jordan Halgas ripped 6 aces and added 2 kills as Ware High School rolled to a 25-12, 25-19, 25-15 win over Franklin County Technical School in an independent volleyball game Friday in Turners Falls.

Jocelyn Holloway totaled 6 digs and Reagan Fiske finished with with 2 aces, 2 digs and a block for the Eagles.

Golf

Pioneer 12½, Easthampton 11½ — Jake Fuller earned 3 points at the No. 5 spot to give Pioneer a narrow 12½-11½ win over Easthampton in an independent golf match Friday at Pine Grove Golf Course in Northampton.

Jake Willis was match medalist for the Panthers with a 41 and took 3 points, while Sam Kitfield-Vernon earned 3½ points.
