LEYDEN — The Leyden Council on Aging is hosting a free viewing of “Eye in the Sky” today at 7 p.m. in Town Hall.
“Eye in the Sky” is a 2016 film starring Helen Mirren as Colonel Katherine Powell, the commanding officer in a drone operation to stop terrorists in Kenya. The mission escalates when a girl enters the “kill zone,” triggering an international dispute over the moral implications of modern warfare. The film is rated R.
NORTHFIELD — In celebration of Roald Dahl’s 100th birthday, Dickinson Memorial Library is hosting a free viewing of “Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory” today at 2 p.m.
In the 1971 film, the world is astounded when renowned candy maker Willy Wonka, for years a recluse in his factory, offers factory tours to five lucky people who can find a golden ticket in their chocolate bar wrappers.
The film follows the winners’ adventures in the highly unusual factory.
According to the library’s website, 100 Grand chocolate bars will be available for moviegoers.
NORTHFIELD — Dickinson Memorial Library’s knitting group is hosting a “Stash Bash” event to sell unwanted knitting equipment Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the library.
According to the library’s website, yarn, knitting needles, knitting notions, crochet hooks, patterns, books, magazines, videos, project bags, sewing notions and fabric will be available for purchase. The items will not be priced, but a monetary donation to the library is necessary.
Residents who would like to donate items to the knitting “stash” can drop them off at the library before Saturday.
WARWICK — Warwick Town Hall is hosting a dinner theater event Saturday at 6 p.m.
The event will feature live performances and a four-course meal. The menu includes vegetables and dip, cheese and crackers, salad, chicken and gravy over homemade biscuits, chocolate mousse, coffee, tea, water and lemonade. Wine, beer, soda and seltzer will also be available for purchase.
Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for children under 12. Children under three eat for free. All proceeds benefit the Trinitarian Congregational Church of Warwick.
