Alan Savinski recorded a point quota of plus-3 to claim the championship of the Knights of Columbus Golf League on Wednesday at Thomas Memorial Golf & Country Club in Turners Falls.
Rich Heath finished second in the playoff at plus-2, Steve Vinelli was third at plus-1 and Steve Ciechomski wound up fourth at 0.
In the Three-Club tournament for those not in the playoff, Steve Brown was first with a plus-8, followed by Rod Brunelle at plus-7.
Jack Cominoli was closest to the pin on No. 7 (4 feet, 5 inches) and Drew Powell came closest on No. 9 (55-7).
Elks League
Two teams will go to a playoff to determine the second-half winner of the Greenfield Elks Golf League.
Ed Reagey and Jim Jason finished in a tie with Bob Ferris and Vinnie Melendez at 55½ points after Wednesday’s play, necessitating a playoff before next week’s final playoff.
Dick Golosh was closest to the pin on No. 5 (13-5).
Timmons Menorial League
Rodney Ebbighausen and Pete Blake combined for a low gross of 37 in the Timmons Memorial Golf League at Northfield Golf Course.
Matt Deane and Brad Kerr had a 28 for low net.
Blake came closest to the pin on No. 6 (7-8). Walt Sanieski was closest on No. 7 (8-6).
Deane was match medalist with a 39.
CFC Women’s League
Terrry Boyce shot an A Division low gross of 40 in the Crumpin-Fox Women’s Golf League Wednesday in Bernardston.
Mace Foehl Hemphill carded a 46 for second place.
Marty Stinson posted a 37 for low gross, followed by Julia Krochmalny at 41.
Corky Sysun took low gross in the B Division with a 47. Julie Bagdon was second with a 50.
Carla Bernier claimed low net with a 36. Linda Lively’s 38 was good for second.
Krochmalny was closest to the pin on No. 3 (3-2). Elaine Goodhind was closest on No. 9 (36-0).
EDGE tournament
The 10th Annual Edge Basketball Golf Tournament will be held Sept. 17 at Northfield Golf Course.
Entry fee for the 9 a.m. shotgun start event is $260 per team and includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, food on the course throughout the day, prizes and a post-tournament meal and prizes.

Union 38 program
Registrations are now being taken for the Union 38 Field Hockey program, which is for the towns of Deerfield, Whately, Sunderland and Conway and open to girls in grades 3 through 6.
The focus is on skill development with game scenarios later in the season. Field hockey sticks, shin guards and balls will be provided (with a deposit) to the first 35 girls who register. Girls are asked to bring a mouth guard and water bottle.
Practices run on Sundays from 4 to 5 p.m. between Sept. 18 and Oct. 16 at Frontier Regional School in South Deerfield. Cost is $20 for the program, plus a $50 deposit for equipment.

Maynard 5-miler
The 22nd annual Don Maynard Memorial 5-Mile Road Race and 3-mile walk will held Sept. 17 at 9:30 a.m. at the Greenfield Municipal Swimming Area.

PV pole vault school
The Pioneer Valley Pole Vault School in Bernardston is open by appointment for individual and group lessons through the fall with negotiable rates.
Lessons will be taught by Pioneer Valley Regional School track and Northfield Mount Hermon pole-vault coach Jim Bell, himself a Masters pole vaulter.
