Democratic Governor’s Council candidate Mary E. Hurley, a former Springfield mayor, has gotten the endorsement of U.S. Rep. Richard Neal, another former Springfield mayor.
Hurley, an East Longmeadow resident who is also a retired district court judge, has the endorsement of Springfield Mayor Dominic Sarno in her bid to replace outgoing Governor’s Councilor Michael Albano, another former Springfield mayor now running for Hampden County sheriff.
Neal said of Hurley, who faces opposition in Thursday’s Democratic primary from Hampden County Bar Association President and former East Longmeadow resident Jeffrey S. Morneau, “Her reputation throughout the community was that of an outstanding judge who was fair and compassionate. The hallmark of her career has always been public service at its best. To that end, I am fully aware of the shortage of judges throughout this congressional district. I know full well that Mary will fight for western Massachusetts to get our fair share of court personnel.”
