For 36 years, the Mug Race has been held in conjunction with Montague Old Home Days. A huge “thank you” for all who supported our efforts this year.
Our sponsors included: Renaissance Builders, Montague Mill, Rau Towing, Judd Wire, Connecticut River Internists, Greenfield Savings Bank, Revennex, McCarthy Funeral Home, Barstow’s Bakery, Turn Lawn Care, The Armen Family, Turn It Up! and About Face Computers. Without their support, the race could not continue.
Secondly, a huge thanks to all the volunteers and members of MCFD who worked endlessly to ensure the runners’ needs were met and safely covered the course. Thanks to Jon Dobias of Park and Recreation for loaning equipment and a huge thanks to Montage Highway Depart for great road conditions.
This year’s race was dedicated to Tracy Turn, and her family turned out with great enthusiasm and spirit. Dave Kaynor added a special touch by performing the song he wrote 10 years ago in her honor.
Even the weather turned for the race; the dry air allowed for a great blast from the cannon with a shower of confetti and smoke filling the air. Thanks, Lenny, for your usual great percussion.
This race is well supported by our local community. Thanks!
